VERBAL RAZORS

VERBAL RAZORS are a French band I stumbled across after seeing one of the shirts in someones picture on Facebook. After I found them, I got onto their Bandcamp and downloaded their EP for free, and you should too. This is straight up crossover madness, not unlike SxTx or D.R.I., to be obvious, but there are some real thrashing here, this release is more thrash than punk, with some cool gang shouts and real gnarly riffs.

So what we have here is a pummeling assault of simple catchy riifs, some nice grooves, just in your face crossover from this fourpeice with a driving bass behind it all and with a suprisingly nice production! The drums are very clear, punchy bass and guitar and even the vocals have a decent clarity. Give them a listen, download their shit and show your mates!

FORCED KILL

I fucking love this band. Not many thrash bands these days can really pull off the blistering pace that was set by the masters 20 - 30 years ago, FORCED KILL really rage. With a clear Dark Angel influence (The vocals are very Ron Rinehart) and lyrically, this is superb! However, where FORCED KILL really hit hard is with the amazing fucking riffs! Every riff just rips you apart, theres so many absolute crackers on here (I don't think they have 246 though). Think Deathrow on speed.


I seriously recommend you buy the Invasion of Steel EP from the band, easily one of the best releases i've got these past few years. Why this Finnish band aren't more well know I can't even guess.


I don't need to say anymore, just fucking listen and check them out, you bastards!! If you love real, hard hitting old school thrash (of course you do) then there's no reason you should not.

HEADBANGER

HEADBANGER from Poland are here to bang your head... sorry. But these tracks are serious stuff! Listening through the 'Ready To Strike' EP again for the 6th or 7th time, i'm pretty excited to hear more from this speed metal bastards. After a show we did in Wakefield with German thrashers REZET I was chatting to Bastian about this band, and recommended I check them out further... and I seriously recommend you to do the same! This is classic thrash metal, in the vein of Violent Force, Exumer, with even a bit of classic Accept thrown around. No clean guitar, just fast as fuck catchy riffs and driving drums, great vocal style, nice and gritty.

Seprevation - killer death/thrash!

Living Cremation and Prophet of Death are straight to the point rippers, played with insane precision (and live to!) with a refreshingly lo-fi production. All the guitars, drums and vocals cut through without blurring eachother out, Sadus style barked vocals, relentless drumming without being too insane, and mindblowing leadwork. These guys can really play, and there are some really cool bass bits which I love. Full of fucking moshtastic riffs, circle pit conjuring stompers and it really does remind me of Possessed, a little bit of Demolition Hammer and a lot of Sadus. 

Get yourselves over there, listen to some fuckin great death/thrash the way it should be and show these guys some support!

Bludvera - Terrorform

Bludvera from are a band I have been a fan of for some time. A few years back I got hold of their demo and was blown away by the riffs and solos, although the pedestrian drumming left something to be desired. This new release is a different beast altogether, and you need to hear it!

'Reanimate' kicks the EP off straight away with an assault of guitar and battering drums, a no holds barred attack! Scott's vocals (reminiscent of Schmier of Destruction or Gonnella of Assassin) power through, the drumming is refreshingly heavy and the relentless guitar blasts through the verses and chorus' at an incredible speed. Nice shouty chorus too! One thing that the first demo really got people by the balls by was the jaw dropping lead work, and there is no letting up here! 

The second track 'Powerhouse' sounds like a Deathrow track that Deathrow never recorded. This is no way a bad thing, just straight up riff laden thrash. Again, another catchy chorus possesses this song with stompy riffs throughout, and these are really fuckin good! This track just rips through, its over before you know it. 

Third track - 'Citizen Monopoly'. Begins with the whole band going for it, guitar, drums and vocals altogether and doesn't let up until the midsection, where you get a chance to rest (!) for a short time until the massive stompfest begins! CITIZEN! MONOPOLY! That's gunna sound great live! 

Just over halfway through now, and we have the title track 'Terrorform'. The lyrics in this are particularly good. Once more, savage riffery and blistering leads!! 

'Parasitic Death Sentence' has some truly crushing guitar work, and the mid section is straight out of Germany '86! This is on of the newer songs I've seen live, and its really cool to hear it as a pro recording. This song is mental, has some real cool changed and a great chorus. 

The penultimate track 'Voyage Beyond The System' features some of the fastest riffage on this EP, as well as the most memorable parts, the vocal melodies during the chorus are pretty sweet with some more Schmierisms! This track also has some jaw dropping solo's, these boys can really shred. 

Now to finish this tidy EP, is my favourite 'Conjure The Dead'. Now, I know there is no shortage on thrash metal songs about Evil Dead, but I don't care. This is another new one I have seen live a few times and was really excited when Scott told me this would be on the EP. I am not dissapointed! Someone needs to make a video with clips from the films, that would be cool. This has a chorus that will stick with you for days after hearing it, and once more - incredible solos, huge riffs and blasting drums. 

These lads from Liverpool have really conjured up a respectable interest, and quite rightly so. Having supported some of UK's best thrash acts and appearing at Bloodstock, we wouldn't expect anything less than this high calibre EP. I only have one complaint - no UGH!!

Bio-Cancer

Fuck! BIO-CANCER has some of the most vicious thrash I have heard! The vocals just tear right through; you must get their EP ‘Ear Piercing Thrash’ available for FREE download on their FaceBook. These Greek thrashers have some really, really nice riffs, just listen to the chorus for on the title track, just makes you wanna go fucking mental! ‘Backstabbed Again’ opens with a crushing accented guitar drop out before assaulting with you with an insane guitar attack, just absolutely relentless throughout! Never lets up on the intensity, which is what thrash should be. No wimpy clean guitar or pedestrian riffs here – just blasting drums, cutting solo’s and a shit load of catchy riffs.  Throughout this whole record the bass is just rumbling behind the mad guitar, I love to hear the bass in thrash but sadly this isn’t always the case, but the huge guitar sound Antonis has laid down more than makes up for it.  The final track ‘Get Cancered... Now!’ doesn’t let you down, again a full on thrash assault. 

This EP has all everything I would want from a thrash record, savage riffs, gang shouts, shit loads of drop outs and barked vocals (very similar to Pat Lind of Morbid Saint).

I'm genuinely excited to see what more is to come from these guys, the next release is going to kick my arse. Just check out the artwork, done by Andrei Bouzikov (this how I discovered the band, I am a fan of his artwork, very Repka style). All you fuckers gotta get cancered... NOW!

Here we have ANIMATOR, a 4 piece thrash outfit from Ireland. Straight off the bat we have full on thrash riffage not far removed from Sacred Reich, or Exodus. Opener 'False Flag Attack' begins with a solid mid paced riff, clearly written to enduce headbanging. This song has some really nice lead work, punchy bass, and the politically charged lyrics compliment the shout along chorus brilliantly. 2nd track 'Open Your Eyes' has this infectious main riff, and has the key element which I believe is paramount in thrash - it's catchy! The production of this 3 track demo is shown off in this particular track, the drums pound with clarity, guitar is thick and crunchy, the lead guitar is peircing with the vocals being clear enough to actually hear the words! The last track 'Welcome to the Human Race' is what really excites me, being based on one of my all time favourite films 'Escape From New York'! This track shows off some faster riffs, and again, catchy riffs, and some real cool reference to the film!
